On Saturday 15 October at 6:00PM Ivan Hugo Figueroa, our organist and a student at the National Conservatory will be presenting a piano recital. This performance will feature music of Bach, Rachmaninoff, and Liszt, plus popular and concert music of Mexico. Iván will be assisted by a bass player and also a tenor on several pieces.
Originally from the city of Aguascalientes, Iván Hugo Figueroa García began his studies there at the Diocesan School of Sacred Music. Currently enrolled in the National Conservatory of Music, he has studied organ with Victor Contreras and Rodrigo Trevino and is currently a piano student of Professor Hector Rojas. He has taken master classes with various organ and piano instructors including Andrés Cea Galan of Spain, Jugen Essl of Germany, Arturo Nieto of Mexico, Bjorn Vevan or Norway, and Erick Lebrun of France.
In 2015 he served as music director of West Side Story, a collaboration among the schools of INBA. Earlier this year Iván was invited by the Asociación Manuel M. Ponce to present a solo recital as part of the concert series of Bellas Artes. He has also performed with the University Festival Symphony Orchestra of Tlaxcala.
This is an opportunity to hear exciting music presented by a talented young artist and at the same time support the ongoing music program at Christ Church.
