Christ Church’s annual Festival of Christmas Lessons and Carols will be held on Sunday 18 December at 6:00PM. This moving and beautiful ceremony is based on a service first held on Christmas Eve 1918 at the chapel of King’s College, Cambridge. It has been broadcast since 1928, and is now a familiar part of Christmas observances worldwide, including here at Christ Church for many years.
This inspiring tradition is more than a religious observance, it is an important community event for English-speakers who come from all over the city to sing the carols and hear our choir. It brings together both parishioners of Christ Church as well as visitors of all denominations and is one of the events for which this parish is best known. We are grateful to the choir and especially to Maestro Juan Ernesto Villegas for the hard work and preparation they put into this very special celebration.
The service of Lessons and Carols is followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Your contribution of a festive platter of finger food or light hors d’oeuvres will enhance the occasion and provide a warm welcome for our members and guests.
