Report from Your Search Committee
In the search for our next rector, we are placing print and online advertisements in several publications in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Members of the Search Committee also have been in contact with seminaries and dioceses in the United States. We have been working on expanding our network by reaching out to clergy friends, as well as to candidates from prior search processes.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the search is of course more challenging this time around. As a practical matter, Advent and Christmas even normally are slow times for search committees, as clergy focus their energy on the demands of the season.
We expect that in the coming year, we will begin to see more applications, especially as progress is made in distributing Covid-19 vaccines,
We will continue to emphasize the strengths of our beloved church –
and the many year-round outdoor opportunities of living in Mexico –
and to keep you informed.
Our Stewardship Campaign Continues
We shall, in time, have a new Rector.
But he or she will have the idea that getting paid a salary is integral to accepting a call to our wonderful parish.
That would be a quaint idea if we don’t have the money.
That’s only one of the important reasons for you to make a pledge of financial support to Christ Church in 2021.
Other reasons bear repeating, too. Our finances are now totally dependent on your pledges. The pandemic is depriving us of our usual other sources of income – the garage sales, the plate donations, the Christmas Bazaar.
Please go now to www.christchurch.mx, our secure Web site: A banner on the home page will guide you to where you can make your pledge. And you can make a gift right now under the “Donations” tab.
If you haven’t gotten a letter from the wardens and treasurer appealing for your support, please look for it in coming days, and respond.
And take another moment or two, please, to figure out whether you’re up-to-date in paying your pledge for 2020. This year, and its bills, aren’t finished yet.
Building the Faith of Our Children
Mother Susan is creating a “Story Time” for young children that appears on our English-language Facebook page.
A new edition will appear at https://www.facebook.com/ChristChurchMx/ and on our YouTube channel reached by searching YouTube for “Christ Church Anglican Mexico City.” It’s the latest video of her reading a story that instructs in a way geared to the young of age, and of heart.
You might want to share it with your children, grandchildren, or other young friends.
