Minutes of Christ Church Annual Parish Meeting on 28 February 2021
- Welcome and Opening Prayer – Mother Susan Dennen
- Bylaws – Proposed Changes – Morris Thompson
Having determined that the number of attendees, at least 54, met the required minimum for quorum, Morris Thompson displayed and explained the rationale for the proposed changes to Sections 5 and 6 of Article II of the bylaws. - Bylaws Voting
Following a brief discussion, the changes were approved unanimously via virtual ballot.
- Nominating Committee Report – Frances Bruton
Frances Bruton read the report of the nominating committee for the Vestry, presenting a virtual ballot with the names of four nominees identified by the committee to complete the Vestry for the three-year term ending in 2024.
- Presentation of Vestry Candidates – Frances Bruton
Alix Elverson, Curt Hartleben, Laura Atkinson, and Antonio Pípoli.
- Vestry Election – Frances Bruton
Mrs. Bruton called for additional nominations from attendees. There being none, attendees voted virtually, approving the four above-named nominees.
- Priest-in-Charge Report – Mother Susan Dennen
The Reverend Susan Dennen offered her report of the state of Christ Church over the past year.
- Treasury Report – Michael Putter
Treasurer Michael Putter began the presentation of his report by thanking C.P. Edgar Gómez for his support and help in conducting the financial affairs of Christ Church over the past year. He then appealed to all who have not yet pledged for this year to do so. Following the presentation of his report on the financial status of Christ Church by end of year 2020, Adolfo Crespo asked about the 2021 budget. Mr. Putter replied that it is not completed as yet.
- Senior Warden’s Report – Jennifer Holden
Jennifer Holden presented her report, thanking all those who had helped to keep Christ Church functioning at a high level over the past year, overcoming daunting odds in the face of the Covid epidemic and the resulting challenges these have presented over the past year.
- Search Committee Report – Anne Meyer
Anne Meyer reported that the Search Committee received a total of 10 applicants, seven of which met the established criteria. One of these shows promise, and the committee will provide further information once their final queries have been resolved.
Kenny Asikaogu spoke of his appreciation for his time on the Vestry.
Christopher Stephens registered his surprise at how smoothly the virtual meeting had gone, which seems to have been the consensus of the attendees.
Senior Warden Jennifer Holden expressed her appreciation for all who had helped make things possible, under trying circumstances.
She said that the written report from the Guild and our seminarians would be distributed by e-mail after the meeting.
- Closing Prayer Mother Susan Dennen
Mother Susan Dennen closed the meeting with a meaningful and timely prayer.
