This aspect of our spiritual life is curtailed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Here’s a description of what we traditionally have done in this area.
Every Friday at 2:00PM, a service of Healing and Holy Eucharist is celebrated at the Anglican Cathedral of San José de Gracia in the historic center of the city at 139 Mesones (between Pino Suarez and Correo Mayor — metro Pino Suarez). Following the service, a free meal is offered to all who attend. This community ministry is known as Santa Juliana de Norwich, and from time to time the material needs of the community are addressed with the events like health fairs of the distribution of food baskets and medicine.
Christ Church also has an informal outreach to the patients and their families at the Hospital General. Every Monday a team of clergy and laity visits the Sala de Emergencias, offering prayers, pastoral care, and a simple supper for those in a time of need and difficulty.
Our building also is used for outreach by organizations like AA, and we make our office spaces available to groups as varied as the British and Commonwealth Benevolent Society, psychologists, and a massage therapist.
