The Queen

Rev. Elisabeth Sinclair

Sep 9, 2022

Dear Christ Church,

So many among us have long connections to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, and her death has surely rocked all of her subjects' sense of security. My mom, who is an American citizen, left me a message yesterday noting her own sense of loss and bereftness. She spoke of Her Majesty as someone who tethered the new world to the old in a way which kept a certain measure of stability in a world so quickly changing. How much more must be the sense of loss for those who considered themselves Her Majesty's subjects. May each of you know and feel and trust our Lord's care and comfort.

This Sunday evening, September 11th, at 7:00 p.m., we will gather together for a service of Evensong in lament for the death of a great woman and world leader and in gratitude for the ways she loved and served during her long lifetime. We will pause as a community to entrust her to God's care and renew our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our foremost Sovereign, who was and is and is to come, and who is ever making all things new.

With love,

Rev. Elisabeth
