Community Announcements
Thank you to Christ Church’s Guild for hosting the wonderful pozole reception last Sunday in honor of the bishop’s visit. Thank you, also, to everyone who brought a side dish to share, including the children’s ministry, who harvested some of the fresh mint they planted last year and served mint-infused drinking water.
Luke Plein completed his 6-week service internship with Christ Church. Many thanks again to his hosts and all who welcomed him with kindness! During his summer with us, Luke organized 4 years’ worth of Vestry documents; created a complete 3-year cycle lectionary binder; cleaned out a huge closet; sorted clothing for immigrants and residents of Casa Hogar La Divina Providencia; researched financial software and human sexuality study plans; spent two weeks of language study in Cuernavaca; accompanied Bishop Sally Sue to visit diocesan-supported ministries in Queretaro and San Miguel de Allende; and much more!
There is no 11:00 a.m. bilingual youth class for ages 12+ today, but youth are invited to complete a worship service “observation & interaction sheet” (available at the Usher’s table) & turn it into Mrs. Tasha Asikaogu at the service’s conclusion to receive a prize. The next bilingual Youth Class will meet July 20th at 11:00 a.m. on the 2nd level of the office wing. This group usually meets on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month.

1 To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom;
2 To teach, baptize, and nurture new believers;
3 To respond to human need by loving service;
4 To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation;
5 To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.
Some Community Communication Reminders:
Most people long to be safe, seen, soothed, and secure. While only God can fully meet these needs, the apostle Paul encourages us in today’s selection from his letter to the Galatians “to work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.” Reflect on how your verbal and nonverbal communication within our community supports or hinders people’s sense of wellbeing. Criticism can easily jeopardize another person’s feelings of being safe, seen, soothed, and secure. If/when you are convinced that constructive feedback is necessary, here are some tips for offering that feedback as helpfully as possible:
1 Before criticizing a person or ministry, consider:
• Have I participated in their work enough to know and understand what they do?
• Have I taken time to offer encouragement and gratitude to this person/ministry? [Remember that we have note cards at the back of the church for you to use to share appreciation with each other.]
• Have I prayed about my critique and asked the Holy Spirit’s help in expressing my concern in a loving manner?
2 If/when you offer a constructive critique, include yourself in the change you hope to see. For example, suggest how you would be willing to help accomplish the goal you believe to be important.
Would you like to express gratitude and appreciation to someone at Christ Church? Feel welcome to write your message on one of the small cards at the ushers’ table. Let’s be a community that is quick to speak words of kindness and slow to speak words of criticism.
Scripture Reflection/Discussion questions:
• 2 Kings: Notice the power dynamics in the story about Namaan and his leprosy. What do you think he would want you to hear from the story of his healing?
• Psalm 30: When in the past has God turned your wailing into dancing? Sit with the memory of that transformation, and allow yourself to relive it.
• Galatians: Are you feeling weary from “doing what is right” in some area of your lfie? Can you allow Paul’s assurance of harvest-time reaping to encourage you?
• Luke: With whom has God connected you so that together you can contribute to people’s healing and to their experience of God’s kingdom being near to them? Perhaps check in with them this week to ensure you’re on track with this mission.

Gracias a Guild de Christ Church por organizar la maravillosa recepción de pozole el domingo pasado en honor a la visita de la Obispa. Gracias también a todos los que trajeron un plato para compartir, incluyendo al ministerio infantil, que recogió un poco de la menta fresca que plantaron el año pasado y sirvió agua con menta.
Luke Plein completó su pasantía de servicio de 6 semanas con Christ Church. ¡Muchas gracias de nuevo a sus anfitriones y a todos los que lo recibieron con amabilidad! Hoy no hay clase bilingüe para jóvenes de 12 años o más a las 11:00 a. m., pero se les invita a completar una hoja de observación e interacción del servicio religioso (disponible en la mesa de los ujieres) y entregarla a la Sra. Tasha Asikaogu al finalizar el servicio para recibir un premio. La próxima clase bilingüe para jóvenes se reunirá el 20 de julio a las 11:00 a. m.en el segundo nivel del ala de oficinas. Este grupo suele reunirse el primer y tercer domingo de cada mes.

LAS CINCO MARCAS DE LA MISIÓN DE LA COMUNIÓN ANGLICANA Y CHRIST CHURCH
“La misión de la iglesia es la misión de Cristo”.
1. Proclamar la Buena Nueva del Reino;
2. Enseñar, bautizar y nutrir a los nuevos creyentes;
3. Responder a las necesidades humanas mediante un servicio amoroso; 4. Procurar la
transformación de las estructuras injustas de la sociedad, combatir la violencia de todo
tipo y promover la paz y la reconciliación;
5. Esforzarse por salvaguardar la integridad de la creación y sustentar y renovar la vida en
la Tierra.
Algunos recordatorios para la comunicación comunitaria:
La mayoría de las personas anhelan sentirse seguras, vistas, reconfortadas y protegidas. Si bien solo Dios puede satisfacer plenamente estas necesidades, el apóstol Pablo nos anima en el pasaje de hoy de su carta a los Gálatas a “trabajar por el bien de todos, y especialmente por los de la familia de la fe”. Reflexione sobre cómo su comunicación verbal y no verbal dentro de nuestra comunidad favorece o dificulta el bienestar de las personas. La crítica puede fácilmente perjudicar la sensación de seguridad, vista, reconfortada y protegida de otra persona. Si está convencido de que la retroalimentación constructiva es necesaria, aquí tiene algunos consejos para ofrecerla de la manera más útil posible:
1. Antes de criticar a una persona o ministerio, considere:
• ¿He participado lo suficiente en su trabajo como para conocer y comprender lo que
hace?
• ¿He dedicado tiempo a animar y agradecer a esta persona o ministerio? [Recuerden que
tenemos tarjetas de agradecimiento al fondo de la iglesia para que las usen y compartan
su agradecimiento.]
• ¿He orado por mi crítica y le he pedido al Espíritu Santo que me ayude a expresar mi
preocupación con cariño?
2. Si ofreces una crítica constructiva, inclúyete en el cambio que esperas ver. Por ejemplo,
sugiere cómo estarías dispuesto a ayudar a lograr la meta que consideras importante.
¿Te gustaría expresar tu gratitud y aprecio a alguien en Christ Church? Siéntete bienvenido a escribir tu mensaje en una de las tarjetas que se encuentran en la mesa de los ujieres. Seamos una comunidad pronta para expresar palabras de bondad y lenta para criticar.
Preguntas para la reflexión/discusión bíblica:
• 2 Reyes: Observa la dinámica de poder en la historia de Naamán y su lepra. ¿Qué crees
que él querría que escucharas de la historia de su sanación?
• Salmo 30: ¿Cuándo en el pasado Dios convirtió tu lamento en danza? Contempla esa
transformación y revívela.
• Gálatas: ¿Te sientes cansado de hacer lo correcto en algún aspecto de tu vida? ¿Puedes
dejar que la promesa de Pablo de que segarás en el tiempo de la cosecha te anime?
• Lucas: ¿Con quién te ha conectado Dios para que juntos puedan contribuir a la sanación
de las personas y a que experimenten la cercanía del reino de Dios? Quizás deberías
ponerte en contacto con ellos esta semana para asegurarte de que estás encaminado con
esta misión.
