Community Announcements August 17 2025
Roman Catholicism & Anglicanism: Similarities & Differences ~ This class will be offered in Spanish at 12:15 p.m. & 2 p.m. today in the White Room. Thank you to P. Germán for sharing his knowledge and interest with us.
The bilingual Youth Class (roughly ages 10-15) meets today, August 17th, at 11:00 a.m. on the 2nd level of the office wing. This group meets on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month.
Thank you, Jackie Gay, for hosting our teambuilding workshop presenter Siliva Correa this past week. What a practical help and spiritual blessing to Silvia, to those of us who participated in the workshop, and to the church as a whole. We appreciate you!

Thanks be to God for the opportunity volunteers and staff had to learn this week about healthy collaboration and non-violent communication. Please continue to pray for us—that we may increasingly implement & model these habits/resources for Christ Church’s wellbeing and God’s joy.
Are you interested in being part of Christ Church’s unfolding music program by singing in &/or directing the choir, playing an instrument, etc.? Please contact Rev. Elisabeth ASAP. *Rehearsals begin this week and will be Thursday evenings 6:30-8:00 p.m. & Sunday mornings 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the choir room on the 2nd level of the office building.
Christ Church’s Children’s Ministry invites us all to a fun day at Chapultepec park this coming Friday, August 22nd, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Come for the whole event, or stop by to say hello! Any help with food, games, etc. is very welcome.
Please note two special Sundays coming soon, each with a unique schedule:
• August 31st
• 11:00 a.m. Bilingual worship service
• 12:15-12:45 p.m. Annual mid-year meeting with brief presentations from Vestry & Finance Committee members
• 12:45-1:30 p.m. Community service project(s)
• September 14th
• 9:30 a.m. English language Morning Prayer service in the chapel (no Eucharist)
• 9:30 a.m. Bus leaves for Lago de Guadalupe, where we will have an outdoor bilingual worship service with a celebration of Eucharist, followed by a tree-planting service project. Return to Christ Church by 2:30. [Optional lunch together.] Please dress casually, wear shoes that can get damp, & bring your own gardening gloves if you have them. RSVP + $100 mx deposit required by Sunday, September 7th. Please see the Ushers to RSVP & give money.

Scripture Reflection/Discussion questions
Isaiah: Has any experience in your family, work, or civic life provoked in you the feelings expressed in this passage? How did you navigate the pain, betrayal, disappointment, etc.?
Hebrews: This passage reminds us of many people in our spiritual family history who faced disheartening circumstances yet persevered by faith expressed through action. Are you facing anything for which faith expressed through action might be needed? Whom do you consider to be part of your cloud of witnesses as you live by faith? Is there any weight or sin you need to throw off to help you run the long distance of faithfulness?
Gospel of Luke: How do you understand these difficult words from Jesus? Has your faith in Jesus or your discernment of what it means to follow Jesus ever created a barrier or conflict in your family relationships? Consider consulting a couple of commentaries this week to see if biblical scholars’ perspectives might offer additional insight about Jesus’ comments.

Catolicismo Romano y Anglicanismo: Similitudes y Diferencias ~ Esta clase se ofrecerá en español hoy a las 12:15 p.m. y 2 p.m. en la Sala Blanca. Gracias al P. Germán por compartir su conocimiento e interés con nosotros.
La clase bilingüe para jóvenes (de 10 a 15 años aproximadamente) se reúne HOY a las 11:00 en el segundo nivel del ala de oficinas. Este grupo se reúne el primer y tercer domingo de cada mes.

Agradecemos a Dios por la oportunidad que tuvieron los voluntarios y el personal de aprender esta semana sobre colaboración saludable y comunicación no violenta. Por favor, continúen orando por nosotros, para que podamos implementar y modelar cada vez más estos hábitos/recursos para el bienestar de Christ Church y la alegría de Dios.

presentaciones de los miembros de la Junta Parroquial y del
Comité de Finanzas
♣ 12:45-1:30 p. m. Proyecto(s) de servicio comunitario
14 de septiembre
♣ 9:30 a. m. Servicio de oración matutino en inglés en la capilla
(sin Eucaristía)
♣ 9:30 a. m. Salida del autobús hacia el Lago de Guadalupe, donde tendremos un servicio religioso bilingüe al aire libre con celebración de la Eucaristía, seguido de un proyecto de
plantación de árboles. Regreso a la Iglesia de Cristo a las
2:30 p.m. [Almuerzo opcional juntos]. Por favor, vistan de
manera informal, usen zapatos que se puedan mojar y traigan
sus propios guantes de jardinería si los tienen. Se requiere
confirmar asistencia + un depósito de $100 mx antes del
domingo 7 de septiembre. *Por favor, contacte a los acólitos para confirmar su asistencia y depositar su dinero.*
