Advent & Christmas at Christ Church

The following events will share the beautiful news of our Savior Jesus Christ and offer family-friendly Christmas activities.

Please invite guests & publicize the information widely:

•    December 6th: Christmas Bazaar, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is a multi-faceted  experience in which you may support local vendors as you purchase Christmas gifts, enjoy a tasty lunch, get your face painted, sing carols, participate in the Christmas story, etc.

•    December 14th: Lessons & Carols, 5:00 p.m. This is a traditional service of Scripture readings, congregational hymns, and choral music, followed by a light reception in the Parish Hall. [Any contributions of wine, snacks, or “finger food” would be much appreciated!] All are welcome. Free admission.

•    December 24th: Journey to the Creche, 5:00 p.m. This is a family-friendly service narrated by Church children and youth, during which we sing familiar Christmas carols.

•    December 25th: Christmas Day Service, 10:00 a.m.

Every year at this time, we begin our budgeting process for the next calendar year and invite parishioners to discern with God how they might contribute to our community’s life and mission through their presence, talents, and finances.

This year’s stewardship theme is “Tell Out My Soul,” which comes from Mary’s song “The Magnificat.”

2026 Promise (“pledge”) cards are available and will be blessed in all worship services today, November 30th. Please prayerfully consider how you are willing to participate and able to commit.

Question: What is a promise/pledge?

Answer: Because churches are not-for-profit entities intended to serve the world in Jesus’ name, we rely on donations. Those who shape the church’s ministries and most benefit from them are its regular attenders, so we ask everyone who attends Christ Church to prayerfully determine how to support Christ Church in each of the following ways: time (presence), talent (service), & treasure (finances). This commitment becomes your promise/pledge.

Question: Why do you ask me to write my promise/pledge on a card and give it to the church?

Answer: The act of submitting a card provides accountability for you and a concrete demonstration of parishioner support for the Finance Committee and Vestry as they build the next year’s budget.

Your Rector & Vestry would like to hear from you. Please respond to any/all of the following questions, & put your answers into the offering basket, or send them by email if you prefer, to mailto:Christchurch.mx2021@gmail.com .

Note: The Rector will read responses first and will keep private anything shared confidentially if it is marked as such (as long as it doesn’t reference harm to self or others)

    •    What has been your experience so far as you have practiced the disciplines of love and reconciliation noted on p. 9 of your bulletin? (Please note if it’s okay to share your responses in our community communications.)

    •    How are you? What are the joys and sorrows of your life with God right now? (Please include your name if you would like follow-up from a Clergy or Vestry member.)

    •    What is encouraging to you about your participation in the Christ Church community in this season of your life? (Please include your name if you would like follow-up from a Clergy or Vestry member.)

    •    What is discouraging to you about your participation in the Christ Church community in this season of your life? What do you think would help transform this area from discouraging to encouraging? (Please include your name if you would like follow-up from a Clergy or Vestry member.)

    •    Is there anything else you would like the Rector &/or Vestry to know?

Thank you, & God bless & keep you.
