Roman Catholicism & Anglicanism: Similarities & Differences Part 2 ~ This class will be offered in Spanish at 12:15 p.m. & 2 p.m. today in the White Room. Thank you to P. Germán for sharing his knowledge and interest with us.
Upcoming Adult Formation / Christian Education Offerings
The bilingual Youth Class (roughly ages 10-15) meets next Sunday, August 24th, at 11:00 a.m. on the 2nd level of the office wing. This group meets on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month.
Are you interested in being part of Christ Church’s unfolding music program by singing in the choir, playing an instrument, etc.? Please contact Antonio Ortega Rivera ASAP. *Rehearsals are Thursday evenings 6:30-8:00 p.m. & Sunday mornings 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the choir room on the 2nd level of the office building.

• September 14th: Outdoor Worship & Creation Care
On this day, you have 3 options:
1 9:30 a.m. Bus leaves for Lago de Guadalupe, where we will have an outdoor bilingual worship service with a celebration of Eucharist, followed by a tree-planting service project. Note: Please dress casually, wear shoes that can get damp, & bring your own gardening gloves if you have them. Return to Christ Church by 2:30. [Followed by optional taco lunch together.]

Scripture Reflection/Discussion questions
Jeremiah: Have you ever argued with God that you aren’t the best choice for an assignment from Him? Or have you ever felt that you’re not good enough for a responsibility you carry? Does anything in God’s response to Jeremiah seem like it could also apply to you?
Hebrews: This passage encourages us to worship God with “reverence and awe.” What elicits reverence and awe in you? When you feel reverence and awe, how does your body respond? Does anything about God trigger this response in you? Why or why not? What would it look like for you to incorporate reverence and awe in your personal worship? How about in our communal worship?
Gospel of Luke: Has anything in your life crippled you (You might consider not only your physical wellbeing but also other dimensions of human experience)? What has that been like for you? Have you ever experienced or witnessed Jesus’ healing? What was that like? Perhaps talk to Jesus about your desires for healing… for yourself, loved ones, suffering strangers… and any intellectual and/or spiritual struggles you face related to the concept of healing.

Catolicismo romano y anglicanismo: Similitudes y diferencias, parte 2 ~ Esta clase se ofrecerá en español hoy a las 12:15 p. m. y a las 2:00 p. m. en el Salón Blanco. Gracias a P. Germán por compartir sus conocimientos e interés con nosotros.
Próximas fechas para la formación para adultos/educación cristiana
La Clase Bilingüe para Jóvenes (de 10 a 15 años aproximadamente) se reúne el próximo domingo 24 de agosto a las 11:00 a. m. en el segundo piso del ala de oficinas. Este grupo se reúne el primer y tercer domingo de cada mes.
¿Te interesa formar parte del programa musical de la Iglesia de Cristo, cantando en el coro, tocando un instrumento, etc.? Contacta a Antonio Ortega Rivera lo antes posible. *Los ensayos son los jueves por la tarde de 6:30 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. y los domingos por la mañana de 9:30 a. m. a 10:30 a. m. en el salón del coro, en el segundo piso del edificio de oficinas.

• 31 de agosto: Reunión Parroquial

♣ 12:15-12:45 p. m. Reunión anual de mitad de año con breves presentaciones de los miembros de la Junta Parroquial y del Comité de Finanzas
♣ 12:45-1:30 p. m. Actividades comunitarias y proyectos de servicio
• 14 de septiembre: Culto al Aire Libre y Cuidado de la Creación
Este día, tienen 3 opciones:
1 9:30 a. m. Salida en autobús hacia el Lago de Guadalupe, donde tendremos un servicio religioso bilingüe al aire libre con celebración de la Eucaristía, seguido de un proyecto de plantación de árboles. Nota: Por favor, vistan de manera informal, usen zapatos que se puedan mojar y traigan sus propios guantes de jardinería si los tienen. Regresen a la Iglesia de Cristo a las 2:30 p. m. [Seguido de un almuerzo opcional de tacos juntos].

Preguntas para la reflexión/discusión bíblica
Jeremías: ¿Alguna vez has discutido con Dios sobre no ser la mejor opción para una tarea que Él te ha encomendado? ¿O alguna vez has sentido que no eres lo suficientemente bueno para una responsabilidad que tienes? ¿Hay algo en la respuesta de Dios a Jeremías que te parezca aplicable a ti?
Hebreos: Este pasaje nos anima a adorar a Dios con reverencia y asombro. ¿Qué te inspira reverencia y asombro? Cuando sientes reverencia y asombro, ¿cómo responde tu cuerpo? ¿Hay algo en Dios que te provoque esta respuesta? ¿Por qué sí o por qué no? ¿Cómo te sentirías al incorporar reverencia y asombro en tu adoración personal? ¿Y en nuestra adoración comunitaria?
Evangelio de Lucas: ¿Hay algo en tu vida que te haya afectado? (Podrías considerar no solo tu bienestar físico, sino también otras dimensiones de la experiencia humana). ¿Cómo te ha afectado? ¿Alguna vez has experimentado o presenciado la sanación de Jesús? ¿Cómo fue? Tal vez hable con Jesús sobre sus deseos de sanación… para usted mismo, sus seres queridos, desconocidos que sufren… y cualquier lucha intelectual que enfrente relacionada con el concepto de sanación.
