Children ages 2-12 may begin in the nursery (the room to the left of the church offices) and return to their parents’ care as Holy Communion begins. Supervised play time available after the service until 2:00 in the rectory garden—only with two unrelated adults present.
Saturday, November 25th, 2:00 p.m. - Christ Church Potluck Celebration of Thanksgiving.
*Also, at 5:00 p.m., pianists & professors Flores will host a recital of their students at Christ Church. 50 mxp/person. Please come and support these young musicians if you are able.
Sunday, November 26th, All services ~ We will celebrate “Christ the King” feast day, which is the LAST day of the liturgical calendar and, therefore, the last Sunday before Advent, an appropriate time to dedicate our 2024 financial promises (pledges) to God. If you have not yet submitted a pledge card or sent your pledge by email to Edgar Gomez, please make every effort to take care of that this week. We are presently planning our 2024 budget. During the 11:00 service only, we will also celebrate the “Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans” as part of the St. Andrew’s Day celebration at Christ Church. Here is some information they have shared with us about this traditional event:
"Kirk" is the Scottish word for "church." Tartans, with their distinctive plaid, represent specific Scottish clans, regions, or regiments. The "Kirkin' O' The Tartans" is the presentation of a Scottish family's symbol, its tartan, at church for blessing.
Legend has it that after Bonnie Prince Charlie's Scottish forces were defeated by the English in 1746 in the Battle of Culloden, the wearing of tartans and the playing of bagpipes were forbidden in Scotland for many years. Wearing or displaying of tartans was punishable by death. During those years, some Scots wore concealed pieces of their tartan when they attended church. At a particular point in the worship service, they would secretly touch their hidden tartan cloth, and the minister would offer a blessing.
The first formal "Kirkin" in America was conducted at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C., in 1941. Their minister at the time was Dr. Peter Marshall, born in Scotland, who was also Chaplain of the United States Senate. In present-day celebrations, the Highlander patriotism, faithfulness, and strong independence are remembered by displaying tartans and the public parade of the clans to the sound of the bagpipe.
Please note: Everyone is welcome to bring their tartan to be blessed, and during our usual “coffee hour,” there will be a reception with sausages and shortbread and Scottish music from the St Patrick’s battalion bagpipes and drums, as well as traditional Highland dancing. The Society requests a $50 mxp donation to attend the event.

December 2, 2023 - Annual Christmas Bazaar! This is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate the upcoming incarnation of God in the infant Jesus, enjoy holiday food, purchase Christmas gifts (!!), relish the company of others, participate in a volunteer team, proclaim the Good News of Jesus and his kingdom, and support Christ Church’s ministries. At the very least, all of us can help spread the news and invite friends and family.

We celebrate with punch and light refreshments in the Parish Hall after the service.

5:00 p.m. ~ Journey to the Creche is a family-friendly event during which all guests are invited to participate in populating the creche as children and youth narrate Jesus’ birth story, and we sing Christmas carols together.

Celebramos con ponche y refrigerios ligeros en el Salón Parroquial después del servicio.

5: p.m. Visita al Pesebre – es evento de amigos y familia durante el cual todos las personas esta invitadas en adornar el pesebre mientras los niños y jóvenes narran la historia del nacimiento de Jesús y cantamos villancicos.
