*The Guild will provide a Mexican Independence Day luncheon today at 12:00 p.m. between the English & Spanish prayer services. Appreciation donations are welcome.
The bilingual Youth Class (roughly ages 10-15) meets next Sunday, Sept. 21st, at 11:00 a.m., on the 2nd level of the office wing. This group meets on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month.
Are you interested in being part of Christ Church’s unfolding music program by singing in the choir, playing an instrument, etc.? Please contact Antonio Ortega Rivera ASAP. *Rehearsals are Thursday evenings 6:00-7:30 p.m. & Sunday mornings 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the choir room on the 2nd level of the office building.
Christ Church is happy to announce the following upcoming adult education opportunities. Please note that the presentation on September 28th consists of two consecutive parts, both in Spanish only. You can choose to attend one or both parts, but Rev. Elisabeth & Monica Beckman, who have both already experienced the presentation, recommend you attend both of possible.

Elisabeth will be on vacation from September 16th (The entire property of Christ Church will be closed this day) – October 2nd, during which time she will not be available by email or WhatsApp. For pastoral emergencies, please contact Mother Susan or Padre German. What is our Gospel call to grow in faith? What does Christianity have to do with ecology?
• The Paschal mystery includes all of Creation: everything has been redeemed in the work of Jesus Christ, the Word through whom all things were made (Jhn. 1:3). In him, “all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross” (Col. 1:19-20; c.f. Eph. 1:10, 2 Cor. 5:19). Creation is thus made new (Rev. 21:5).
• Jesus said that loving our neighbors is like unto loving God. Our neighbors include people of the Third World who now face the worst effects of the crisis built by the First World; climate refugees; low-wealth and minority communities, which are hurt first and hardest by the changing climate as social justice is inextricably linked to ecological justice; and future generations, who depend on us to leave them a habitable world. God’s “everlasting covenant” is with “every living creature” (Gen. 9:8-17)— they, too, are the neighbors we are summoned to love.
• We proclaim a Gospel of salvation that includes all of Creation, not only human beings. Jesus commissioned his disciples, saying, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15). As disciples of Jesus, our mission is to bring good news in word and deed to the whole Creation.

¿Cuál es nuestro llamado para crecer en la fe? ¿Qué tiene que ver el cristianismo con la ecología?
• Jesús dijo que amar al prójimo es como amar a Dios. Nuestro prójimo incluye a las personas del Tercer Mundo, que ahora enfrentan las peores consecuencias de la crisis generada por el Primer Mundo; a los refugiados climáticos; a las comunidades de bajos recursos y minoritarias, que son las primeras y más afectadas por el cambio climático, ya que la justicia social está inextricablemente ligada a la justicia ecológica; y a las generaciones futuras, que dependen de nosotros para dejarles un mundo habitable. El "pacto eterno" de Dios es con "todo ser viviente" (Génesis 9:8-17); ellos también son el prójimo al que estamos llamados a amar.
• Proclamamos un Evangelio de salvación que abarca a toda la Creación, no solo a los seres humanos. Jesús encargó a sus discípulos: "Vayan por todo el mundo y anuncien la buena nueva a toda la creación" (Marcos 16:15). Como discípulos de Jesús, nuestra misión es llevar la buena nueva en palabra y obra a toda la Creación.
• Nuestro discipulado da testimonio de un amor que trasciende la muerte. En el bautismo, morimos a nosotros mismos y vivimos en Cristo, y somos liberados del temor indebido a la muerte (cf. Romanos 8:38-39; 2 Timoteo 1:7; Hebreos 2:14-15). Esta experiencia capacitó a los primeros cristianos para resistir a los poderes injustos: «trastornaron el mundo» (Hechos 17:6) y «contrariaron los decretos del emperador» (Hechos 17:7), obedeciendo a Dios antes que a cualquier autoridad humana (Hechos 5:29) al resistir las fuerzas de la muerte y la destrucción hasta el sufrimiento y el martirio.
